A new La Niña event is predicted by the National Study for the El Niño Phenomenon (Enfen) with a 62% probability from spring 2021 to summer 2022, potentially impacting Peru's agriculture. This climatic anomaly could decrease rainfall in the central and southern highlands, possibly delaying the planting campaign and affecting the sowing of key crops. However, in the northern highlands, normal rainfall conditions are anticipated, marking an improvement from the previous La Niña period, when lack of rainfall had reduced the reserve level of main water reservoirs in the country.
