UK pig meat imports remained low in August, despite a price differential between the UK and EU, with the average price of pork imported being 10% lower than the previous year. Import volumes increased slightly when looking at all pig meat products, but fresh and frozen pork volumes were still lower than August 2020. There was a decrease in imports from several EU states, but this was counteracted by increased shipments from Germany and Belgium. Exports of fresh and frozen pork also saw a quarterly decrease, with a significant decrease in shipments to China and the EU. However, offal exports to China saw robust growth, with a 56% increase compared to the previous year.
