The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan, in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), UCC Ueshima Coffee Co., Ltd. (UCC), and Marubeni Corporation (Marubeni), has initiated the 'Sustainable Coffee Production Project' in Tanzania. This project, the first under the 'Enhancing Small-Scale Private Sector Producers (ELPS)' initiative, aims to enhance the livelihoods of small-scale coffee producers in southwestern Tanzania by enhancing coffee productivity and quality, and promoting environmental sustainability. The project is expected to stabilize the supply of coffee raw materials from Tanzania to private companies and benefits both the private sector and small-scale producers. A presentation to announce the project was held on September 20.
