The effects of the La Niña phenomenon in the summer of 2025 are expected to be felt at the beginning of the season in Rio Grande do Sul, according to a projection released this Thursday (11/6) by experts from the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) and Embrapa. The alert was issued during a presentation of the climate forecast for the quarter, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA/RS) in Porto Alegre. The forecast points to temperatures between 0.5°C and 1°C above the historical average, with a reduction in rainfall by about 50 millimeters monthly, a scenario typical of a short-duration and moderate-intensity La Niña. "It is a moment that requires caution. There is no forecast of frustration, but neither is there an expectation of a bumper crop," said the superintendent of MAPA/RS, José Cleber de Souza.
