[Reporter Young-jin Choi, Korea Fisheries News] The National Institute of Fisheries Science has agreed to join forces with the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute of the University of Tokyo and Nagasaki University to advance fisheries science and technology. This agreement was initiated to respond to environmental changes in the fisheries industry due to climate change and to keep up with the development of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). The aim is to establish a mutual cooperation system with the University of Tokyo's Atmosphere and Environment Research Institute, which has a global reputation in the field of ocean and climate change, and Nagasaki University, which leads research in the field of aquaculture. Based on the research capabilities and expertise held by both universities, the National Institute of Fisheries Science aims to form a common understanding of current issues in the fisheries industry between Korea and Japan and to develop solutions through joint research.
