The Malaysian Federation has lifted the suspension on Argentine live horse exports, which had been in place since November 2023 due to concerns over Western Equine Encephalomyelitis. This decision comes after eight months of collaborative efforts between Argentine authorities and the Malaysian government, involving the exchange of health information, a new risk analysis, and the approval of a new International Veterinary Certificate. In 2022, Malaysia was the seventh-largest market for Argentine live horse exports. The resumed exports will comply with Malaysian health requirements.
