Sudan has restarted exporting livestock to Saudi Arabia via Port Sudan, following a review of health requirements by the Saudi authorities and the Sudanese Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries. Over the past two days, 53,225 sheep and 93 camels have been exported to Saudi Arabia, showing an 80% immunity. The Sudanese Ministry of Animal Resources is ready to inspect, investigate, and quarantine livestock and meat exports at land, sea, and air ports. The ministry operates a health program in the states and claims that the national herd is disease-free and acceptable in the Saudi markets. Livestock and meat exports are a significant source of foreign currency for Sudan.
