Australian tree nut exports, particularly almonds and macadamias, are expected to grow due to expanding orchards and a period of growth in the industry. China and India are key markets, as they have limited domestic production. However, high global supplies have led to unsustainable farmgate prices, which have recovered slightly in 2024. From 2024 to 2030, Australian almond production is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4%, reaching 210,000 metric tonnes kernel weight equivalent by 2030. Macadamia production is expected to double by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 13% to 2030. Despite health and convenience trends, domestic tree nut sales have not grown, and innovation in product offerings is needed to increase local demand.
