A significant milestone has been reached in the China-Africa meat trade with the import of 1,000 kilograms of mutton from Madagascar to Hunan, China, marking the first African mutton imports for the country. The meat, produced by a Madagascar company invested in by a Chinese seed company, will be distributed across Hunan's restaurants and supermarkets. This company aims to export 20,000 metric tons of mutton annually to China within the next three to five years. The decision to allow Madagascar mutton imports was made during the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha last year, and since then, Hunan has seen a 10.6% increase in imports of African agricultural products, valued at around 240 million yuan, in the first seven months of this year.
