An analysis by Coldiretti has found that Italian food product purchases in Great Britain have fallen by 2% due to Brexit-related limitations and the Covid pandemic. The difficulties faced by those exporting to the UK include customs procedures and increased transport costs. These issues could threaten the €3.4 billion annual agri-food exports to the UK, which ranks fourth among Italy's commercial partners for food and drink. The violations of Brexit agreements by the UK could also lead to the arrival of food and drinks that do not comply with EU safety standards and counterfeits of protected food products.
