The European Union increased its corn imports from Ukraine in the 2021/22 campaign to 8.09 million tons, making Ukraine the EU's leading maize supplier with a 50% share. There was also an increase in imports of barley, rye, and other cereals, while common wheat imports dropped significantly. Despite the ongoing war, Ukraine's export schedules allowed for these increased imports before the Russian invasion. Additionally, imports of various cereals from Russia also increased. Spain imported nearly 7 million tons of grain from third countries in the same campaign.
