The hot and humid weather in Malaysia has led to an early harvest of durians, reaching the market before the usual season that starts in June. However, sales have been slow due to lack of customer awareness about the early availability and low prices. The Malaysian durian sector is expected to grow significantly, with production projected to reach 506,000 metric tons by 2025. Efforts are also underway to secure market access in China for fresh durians, including a dedicated charter flight route for durian exports from Kuala Lumpur to Zhengzhou.
