Malaysia's new jackfruit variety is expected to be exported to the Chinese market

Malaysian jackfruit was approved by the General Administration of Customs of China in April 2023 and was first exported to China in October of the same year. Since there is no advantage in variety and all costs are higher than Thai and Vietnamese jackfruit, it is difficult to obtain a higher premium in the market. Now Malaysia hopes to export the nangchem variety to China and open up the Chinese market with new varieties. Nangchem is a hybrid of cempedak native to Southeast Asia and jackfruit.
