Malaysia's pepper exports have seen a growth, reaching RM86.4 million from January to July 2021, an increase from RM80.2 million during the same period in 2020. Japan is the primary importer, accounting for half of these exports. Other significant markets include China, South Korea, and Sweden. The pepper trade with Singapore has also improved, with a value of RM8.20 million in the first seven months of 2021. Additionally, the pepper cultivation area in Malaysia expanded slightly from 8,172 hectares in 2020 to 8,215 hectares in 2021, with the industry seeing an increase in growers from 38,986 to 39,137 over the same period.
