MBC Gangwon Yeongdong aired a special documentary "Domination of the Forest" on the restoration of areas affected by wildfires.

(Gangneung=Yonhap News) Reporter Yoo Hyeong-jae = A documentary exploring restoration plans for the damage caused by forest fires on the East Coast is gaining viewers.

MBC Gangwon Yeongdong will broadcast 'Domination of the Forest - The Story of Restoring the East Coast Forest Fire Damage Area' at 8:30 AM on the 26th.

It is a project selected for support by the Korea Press Foundation.

Reporter Lee Ara planned and covered the story, and PD Hwang Ji-woong directed it.

Voice actor Jung Hyeong-seok, known for the voice of 'I am a naturalist,' participates as the narrator to convey the story of the burned mountains and the restoration, as well as the struggle for the leadership of the forest.

The area of damage from the large forest fires on the East Coast is 45,599 hectares, which is 157 times the area of Yeouido.

The documentary reports on the situation where the debate over the restoration of forest fire damage areas in our country has been stagnant for 30 years, and shows the results of comparing and verifying various opinions from forestry experts, environmental groups, and landowners.

Reporters Lee Ara and Yang Sung-joo conceived the plan at the site of the Uljin and Samcheok forest fires in March 2022. Over the past four years, they conducted interviews with over 50 experts on more than 100 forest fire damage sites domestically and abroad.

Additionally, they visited overseas sites in the United States, Japan, and other countries to compare and analyze forest fire-related policies in each country, introducing the direction that Korean forestry policy should take.
