In the third week of August 2024, Poland experienced a decrease in live pig purchase prices by 2.5% week-on-week and 4% month-on-month, making it 15% cheaper than the previous year. This downward trend is mirrored across the EU, with class E slaughter pigs priced at EUR 207.66/100 kg, marking a 1.4% decrease from the previous week and a 12% drop year-on-year.
Additionally, the report highlights a decrease in the prices of pork half-carcasses by 2.1%, along with a slight decrease in the purchase prices of slaughter cattle and poultry. However, there was an exception with a 2.5% increase in the purchase price of turkeys and a slight increase in the prices of fattened geese and broiler ducks. Compared to the prices of the previous year, broiler chickens, geese, and broiler ducks were cheaper, while turkeys became 9% more expensive.
