In the week of 18-24 November 2024, Poland experienced a decrease in the purchase price of live pigs, falling to PLN 6.24/kg, which is 6% lower than the previous month and 18% lower than the same period in 2023. The country also saw a decrease in the selling price of pork, with pork half-carcasses now selling at PLN 9.41/kg, marking a 6% drop from the previous month and a 15% decrease year-on-year. Concurrently, the purchase price of slaughter cattle increased by 2.5% to PLN 10.60/kg, while the sales price of compensated beef quarters from young bulls rose by 0.5% to PLN 21.88/kg. In the poultry sector, suppliers saw a decrease in the purchase price of broiler chickens and an increase in the purchase price of broiler ducks, while the sales price of gutted chicken carcasses fell by 8%, and turkey carcasses rose by 10.5%. These changes in prices are contextualized within the broader EU market, where the average purchase price of class E slaughter pigs was EUR 192.18/100 kg, marking a 2% decrease from the previous week and a 10% decrease year-on-year.
