Paraguayan beef exports to the US have generated foreign exchange of USD 5.8 million in the first three months, with 1,423 tons exported and an average export value of USD 4,133 per ton. However, there are concerns about the re-entry of Paraguayan meat into the US market after a 25-year ban, as the US Senate has approved a resolution to annul the authorization given by the Biden administration due to concerns about foot-and-mouth disease. Both the US government and the Paraguayan private sector are working to prevent the resolution from being approved in the House of Representatives, as Paraguay has WHOA certification as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease and meets all quality, safety, and health standards.
