Mexican pork producers are adopting a revolutionary needle-free vaccination system to vaccinate pigs subdermally, aiming to reduce animal stress, prevent virus transmission, and enhance meat quality. This innovation, proven effective in countries like Spain, Denmark, and Italy, and recently adopted in Mexico, is set to revolutionize the industry by minimizing muscle damage and reducing the spread of the PRRS virus through needles. The system is used to immunize pigs against various diseases, including the PRRS virus, type 2 porcine circovirus, and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, and soon will be used for the control of the Lawsonia intracellularis bacterium. This development is highlighted at the AMVECAJ 2023 Congress as a significant advancement in the Mexican pork industry.
