The Mexican health authority has approved a Systems Approach pilot plan for Chilean table grape exports, allowing the elimination of fumigation during shipping processes. This initiative will benefit grape producers in the regions of Atacama, Coquimbo, and Valparaíso, starting in the 2024-2025 season. The pilot plan is expected to reduce costs and improve fruit quality. This development follows the United States' approval of a similar Systems Approach standard for table grape shipments from certain Chilean regions. Chile regained its leadership as the leading exporter of table grapes in the southern hemisphere in the 2023-2024 season, exporting over 64 million boxes of grapes valued at over USD$1 billion FOB.
