Facing the suspension of live cattle exports to the United States due to the screwworm, the Mexican meat industry is seeking new markets, including Asian and Arab countries that import large quantities of meat, said the National Association of Federal Inspection Type Establishments (ANETIF). The president of this organization, Alonso Fernández Flores, said that with the resumption of trade agreements with Europe and the attention to Asian markets, exports will be diversified.
