The Metropolitan Food Cluster (MFC) has launched a pilot project in Sarawak, Opar, aiming to modernize the region's agriculture and food industry. Initiated after dialogue sessions and a 2022 visit to the Netherlands to study MFC models, the project seeks to add to the GDP, ensure food safety, and reduce dependence on imported food. Developed as a public-private-community partnership, the project features advanced technologies like AI-controlled greenhouses, IoT sensors, and climate suction boxes, with the goal of empowering local smallholders and promoting a sustainable, integrated circular economy.
