Dr. Chance Riggins from the University of Illinois emphasizes the importance of the Midwestern Hemp Research Database for hemp farmers. This expanding resource, developed over the past four years, aids growers in selecting optimal hemp varieties suited for Midwestern conditions by providing data on yield, productivity, and cannabinoid levels. The database addresses the lack of modern information available before the 2018 Farm Bill, helping to identify consistent and high-performing hemp varieties. Although hemp has historically thrived in the region, similar to corn and soybean, there is still much to learn about its cultivation.
