A collaborative effort between CMPC, the Laboratory of Plant Epigenetics, and the Institute of Integrative Systems Biology has led to the sequencing of the genome of the Araucaria araucana, a native Chilean tree species endangered by extinction. This development, marked as a significant scientific milestone, aims to enhance strategies for biodiversity conservation and restoration through improved monitoring of genetic diversity and adaptive potential. The team is planning to upgrade the genome to version 2.0 and make it publicly available. The partnership between CMPC and these institutions represents the private sector's involvement in scientific research, with the data generated expected to support management and conservation efforts for the Araucaria araucana and address the broader issues of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.
