Spanish dairy farmers are experiencing a significant drop in milk production due to climate change-related diseases, including the EHE virus, which has affected over 95% of farms in Galicia, leading to high mortality rates and severe symptoms in cows. This has resulted in a 25% decrease in daily milk collection in affected areas, with a more recent 5% drop in September and October. The Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA) is calling on dairy industries and distributors to adjust contracts with price increases to cover production costs and encourage milk production in Spain. Additionally, the impact of "hurricane" Kirk on corn plantations has led to a lack of fodder, further increasing production costs and affecting milk production.
