Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, has introduced the National Plan for Individual Identification of Cattle and Buffalo. The plan aims to enhance traceability by implementing an individual identification system to track the health and movement of each animal. The initiative will strengthen animal health programs, enhance the government's response to epidemiological outbreaks, and align Brazil with international market health standards. The implementation will be phased over seven years, with the national database expected to be established between 2024 and 2026, and individual identification of animals anticipated between 2027 and 2029.
