Egypt's agricultural sector has seen significant advancements under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's leadership, with the implementation of over 320 projects worth more than 40 billion pounds and a focus on expanding agricultural lands and developing new, high-yield crop varieties. In 2020, despite the pandemic's impact on international trade, Egypt emerged as the world leader in orange exports and occupied top positions in citrus fruits, frozen strawberries, and olive production. The country also opened over 38 new export markets for its agricultural products, including in Japan, New Zealand, and the Arab Gulf countries, marking a notable improvement in the export of citrus, crops, and other agricultural products. This growth strategy aims to enhance food security, provide good-quality food for citizens, and generate substantial economic benefits by promoting healthy and safe food production and achieving substantial returns through exports.
