The Ministry of Agriculture corrected the information released yesterday that Japan had lifted all embargoes on Brazilian chicken meat. In fact, according to the ministry's clarification, Japan maintains the restriction on imports of chicken from the municipalities of Montenegro (RS), Campinápolis (MT), and Santo Antônio da Barra (GO). From other origins, purchases are authorized. After the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) recognized the end of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) case recorded in a commercial farm in Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul, 16 importing countries have resumed purchasing Brazilian chicken, the ministry reported in a statement.
