It is reported that the main destinations for vegetable oil exports currently include China (42.4%), Uzbekistan (35.4%), Tajikistan (12.7%), Afghanistan (3.2%), Kyrgyzstan (1.4%), and Latvia and Turkmenistan (1.8%). In the 2024-2025 sales year, the total amount of oil products exported to Afghanistan reached 32,700 tons, an increase of 69% compared to the previous season.
Moreover, during the Kazakhstan-Afghanistan Business Forum held in Shymkent, under the witness of Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin, Afghan enterprises and the National Association of Oilseed Processors of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation, with a total value of $24 million.
The Ministry of Agriculture pointed out that compared to 2023, the export volume of vegetable oil in 2024 increased by 30%, from 451,000 tons to 582,000 tons. Among them, sunflower oil increased by 30.7% (from 364,000 tons to 476,000 tons), and rapeseed oil increased by 38.5% (from 46,200 tons to 64,000 tons).
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the national vegetable oil industry has maintained steady growth, with the annual processing capacity of domestic enterprises for oil crops exceeding 4.7 million tons. Currently, there are about 90 oil processing enterprises in operation.
