Moldova: Walnut plantations were not damaged by frost

Despite the unstable nature of the weather this spring, the flowering process of walnut plantations in Moldova, according to AgroExpert.md, is generally proceeding normally. As noted by Oleg Tyrsine, Chairman of the Association of Walnut Growers of Moldova (ANRM), the flowering period of early walnut varieties, including one of the most promising local export varieties “Peschansky”, occurred during a period of comfortable warm weather. The recent cold wave, which slightly damaged flowering fruit trees - some stone fruits and berries - did not have time to hit the early nut plantations. At the same time, flowering of nuts of mid- and late-ripening varieties in the center of the country began only in the second half of last week, and in the northern regions it will begin in the coming days.
