The Association of Grape Producers and Exporters of the Republic of Moldova (APESM) and the Efficient Agriculture Moldova Project of ARM/USAID held a discussion on the planning of table grape production and export for the 2022-23 season. Moldova's winegrowers had a successful 2021 season, producing and exporting around 100 thousand tons of table grapes, with a significant portion going to traditional markets like the CIS and a smaller amount to the EU. However, Moldova did not secure the full duty-free quota for table grape supply to the EU. The largest buyers were Russia, Romania, and Ukraine. With potential export difficulties to war-affected countries and the need for product improvement and sustainable packaging solutions for the EU market, Moldova faces challenges in its grape export business for the coming season.
