Morocco maintains high rates of date imports in the 2023/24 season

Morocco, one of the largest importers of dates in the world, maintains high levels of imports of these products in the 2023/24 season, EastFruit reports. However, the final figure for the current season may still be slightly lower than the previous one due to increased production of local products. Thus, for the period from October 2023 to March 2024, Morocco has already imported 103 thousand tons of dates, which actually corresponds to the same period of the previous season. This is also more than Morocco's average imports in the three seasons preceding the previous one. However, the country has every chance of not exceeding the figures for the 2022/23 season for two main reasons. Firstly, in 2023, the production of local dates in Morocco, according to the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, increased by 7% to 115 thousand tons.
