The district of Cuamba in Niassa, Mozambique, is projected to export over 10,000 tons of pigeon peas to India this year, a significant decrease of 6,000 tons from the previous year's export of 17,000 tons. This reduction is attributed to the El Niño phenomenon, which caused insufficient rainfall. Despite the decrease, the export is expected to bring benefits in the form of foreign exchange, partnerships, new opportunities, and economic growth for Mozambican families. The district is also exporting 2,000 tons of sesame and 1,800 tons of soybeans.
