Mozambique's lychee exports to Europe have been on the rise due to increased production, promotion, and technical support for farmers. The country produces approximately 55,000 tons of lychee per year, primarily in Manica and Maputo provinces, with Europe, especially England, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany, being the main export markets. Lychee generates around US$3 million in revenue annually. Despite climate challenges, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correia, expects growth in lychee cultivation. During his visit to a lychee production unit, Correia also checked on tomato producers supplying the national market.
