Myanmar exports over 2,000 tons of coffee beans to overseas countries annually. Due to the excellent quality of local Myanmar coffee, which reaches specialty grade, it is particularly favored by foreign coffee professionals.
Among the destination countries for Myanmar coffee bean exports, shipments are made via maritime channels to the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Australia, France, Singapore, Germany, and Canada; while land border trade routes are used for exports to China and Thailand.
The total coffee plantation area nationwide in Myanmar reaches 20,242 hectares (approximately 50,000 acres), with an annual coffee bean production of around 10,000 tons.
