[Namwon Farmers' Newspaper, Reporter Gu Jeong-min] Namwon City has confirmed the possibility of a new income crop through the experimental cultivation of summer napa cabbage in semi-cool regions. The Namwon Agricultural Technology Center, in collaboration with the Rural Development Administration, conducted a pilot project to establish a stable summer napa cabbage production base in the areas of Unbong, Inwol, and Ayeong, covering 1.2 hectares. The harvest was completed over a three-day period starting from the 29th. This project applied various cultivation techniques, including the Naeseong summer napa cabbage variety, low-temperature mulching film, micro-drip irrigation system, and underground drainage equipment, to induce stable growth during the high-temperature period. Although the yield reached 70% of that of kimchi cabbage, the income was more than double the low-income standard, proving its potential as a crop for increasing farmers' income.
