A pollinator is an insect that transfers pollen, such as butterflies and bees.
This garden is designed to restore the habitat of pollinators, which have decreased due to urban development and climate change, and to support their entire life cycle, including feeding and breeding.
It can also be used as an urban ecological education center where people can experience and learn about the importance of nature.
The Pollinator Garden consists of four areas: a caterpillar shelter, a tree and grass room, a flowering restaurant, and a puddle lounge.
The caterpillar shelter provides a stable environment for caterpillars to hide and undergo metamorphosis, while the tree and grass room is a complex habitat that supports the growth process from eggs to adult insects.
The flowering restaurant is a space where adult insects engage in feeding activities, and the puddle lounge is designed to encourage insects to drink water and absorb minerals.
The National Arboretum developed this garden as part of its affordable model garden development project to increase biodiversity in urban areas and spread garden culture.
Previously, they had also exhibited 'Garden of Goodwill', 'A Spoonful of Garden', 'Garden Embracing a Forest', and 'Habitat Garden' at expos and exhibitions.
The Pollinator Garden will be on display at the Gyeonggi Provincial Garden Culture Expo until the 19th, and after the closing, it will be available for viewing at the Pyeongtaek Agricultural Ecology Center.
