The Negros Occidental provincial government in the Philippines is increasing its dairy goat production by increasing the animal population through locally born crossbred types. The Provincial Veterinary Office's Negros First Ranch has produced dairy goat triplets for the first time. The breed, known for producing more meat, will also boost dairy goat development in the province. The Dairy Goat Development Project aims to provide additional sources of income and improve the livelihood of local raisers. The province has distributed about 230 heads of dairy goat to local government units and agencies in the past two years. Dairy goat farming is an alternative livestock enterprise suitable for small-scale livestock raisers as it involves minimal capital investment.
