Turkey achieved a record production of nearly 1 million tons of fish last year, leading it in sea bass and sea bream farming, and making it the world's second-largest trout farmer. The country has signed cooperation agreements with 15 countries for fishing, with negotiations still in progress with 12 African nations and three other countries. Turkey's aquatic product exports exceeded $1.6 billion last year, with total sales abroad reaching $6.4 billion in the past five years. The highest exports were made to Russia, followed by Italy and the United Kingdom. Regulations for commercial aquaculture hunting for the 2024-2028 period are currently being developed to provide better conditions for the fishing industry.
