The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has initiated a project to construct a 100,000-ton grain silo in Port Said port, funded partly by a loan from The OPEC Fund for International Development, to increase storage capacities. The Minister has presented a future plan to the economic representatives of his ministry, which includes providing the strategic reserve of basic commodities, purifying ration cards, achieving self-sufficiency in basic commodities, and combating global inflation. An inspection campaign on food commodity stores led to the seizure of expired goods and referral of violators to investigation authorities. The ministry has also permitted bakeries to keep ration cards temporarily due to information system issues.
