The Julius Kühn Institute is leading the WiLGeR project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, to improve lentil breeding and make winter lentils more appealing for organic mixed crop cultivation in Germany. The project will evaluate local varieties and conduct field trials, with the goal of increasing yield potential, developing winter forms, and improving the competitive power of lentils. The project also aims to support the cultivation of lentils under German conditions and to activate value chains for regionally grown lentils.
