The European Commission has approved the application to register 'Vindelnrökt skinka', a traditionally hot-smoked whole muscle pork ham from the Västerbotten region of Sweden, as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). This new status, part of the European Union's strategy to protect and promote high-quality food products, will be added to the eAmbrosia database's 1,693 existing entries. The ham's unique characteristics are linked to traditional production methods, high-quality ingredients, and a distinct smoking process.
