Gyeongbuk Goryeong County (County Mayor Lee Nam-cheol) has been selected for the 2026 "Field Farming Mechanization Excellent Model Demonstration Project" and the "City/County Strategic Project Support Project," securing a total project cost of 3.2 billion won. Goryeong County, a major garlic production area, applied for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' 2026 Field Farming Mechanization Excellent Model Demonstration Project, which selected six cities and counties nationwide, and was finally selected. In the future, it plans to purchase and lease agricultural machinery such as for sowing and harvesting to reduce labor during these periods. To this end, it will purchase suitable agricultural machinery for farmers through a needs survey of the four agricultural cooperatives' garlic mechanization councils within the county and conduct long-term leases (5 years) to reduce the burden of purchasing agricultural machinery for farmers and to mechanize field farming by reducing manpower.
