Canary Islands calls for aid to promote native breeds

The Official Bulletin of the Canary Islands (BOC) published, on November 19, the Order by which subsidies intended for the promotion of native breeds are called for the year 2026 in advance, as provided in Royal Decree 1625/2011, of November 14, which establishes the regulatory bases of the subsidies intended for the promotion of native Spanish breeds. The objective of these subsidies is to contribute to the maintenance and conservation of the genetic heritage of the native Canarian breeds, thus avoiding their disappearance and improving the consolidation of the zoogenetic heritage, which is essential for achieving a sustainable and rational use of the natural environment. The beneficiaries will be the organizations or associations of livestock farmers recognized by the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, which meet the requirements.
