Norway has maintained its bluefin tuna quota at 386.4 tonnes for 2024, identical to the previous year. The quota encompasses allocations for by-catch, mark-and-release, recreational fishing, a pilot project on live storage of bluefin tuna, and research. Small-scale coastal vessels, seiners, and one liner vessel are permitted to fish. The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries reserves the right to modify or cancel the guaranteed quota for seiners on 15 August 2024. The quota is designed to enhance fishing activity and value creation of bluefin tuna.
