Norwegian salmon export price falls to lowest level in nearly two years

According to the latest data from the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC), in the 40th week of 2024 (September 30-October 6), the average export price of Norwegian fresh salmon fell to the lowest level in nearly two years. This is the first time that the average export price of Norwegian fresh salmon has fallen below 70 Norwegian kroner (about US$6.57) per kilogram since October 2022. Data shows that the average price of free on board (FOB) in Oslo fell to 69.7 Norwegian kroner (about US$6.57) per kilogram, which is the lowest level since the 45th week of 2022. Despite this, the total export volume of Norwegian fresh salmon fell month-on-month to 26,651 tons in the 40th week, but still increased by 2% year-on-year. During this period, Norway's exports to the EU, the UK and China Salmon sales fell to 21,008 tons, 1,039 metric tons and 757 tons respectively, while sales to the United States and Japan increased to 468 tons and 188 tons respectively.
