The International Sugar Organization (IOA) has revised down its forecast for the global sugar surplus in the 2022/23 season, from 6.2 million tonnes to 4.2 million tonnes, due to lower-than-expected production. The surplus is now projected at 3.25 million tonnes, according to a Reuters poll. The reduction in the surplus is attributed to a decrease in production in India and Western Europe, despite a slight increase in global consumption.
