Opening of a market in South Korea for the export of shrimp-based products

The Brazilian government has recently announced a significant development in its agribusiness sector, with South Korea authorizing the import of ten Brazilian shrimp-based products without the need for an International Health Certificate. This range of products includes various forms of shrimp, such as headless, peeled, cooked, or raw, available in frozen or chilled states. To export these products, Brazilian exporters are required to register with South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. This move comes as the second market South Korea has opened to Brazil in less than a month, previously authorizing animal by-products for feed. South Korea represents a crucial market for Brazilian agricultural exports, which amounted to US$3.37 billion in 2023. This achievement is part of Brazil's ongoing efforts to expand its agribusiness exports, marking its 106th commercial expansion in 50 countries since last year, facilitated by the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
