Citrus growers in São Paulo and the Triângulo Mineiro region in Brazil are projected to harvest 223.14 million boxes of oranges in the 2024/25 harvest, marking a 4% decrease from the initial estimate and a potential 27.4% drop from the previous harvest due to disease and weather conditions. The average price of table oranges has decreased by 1.4% in the current period, while imports of fresh oranges have surged by 87% due to low domestic supply and high domestic prices. The incidence of greening, a disease affecting citrus crops, has increased by 56% in Brazil. The situation is further complicated by heat waves and rainfall deficits.
