In 2019, the European Union imported 3.24 million tons of organic agri-food, which represents 2% of total agri-food imports. The majority of these imports were basic and unprocessed products, with the Netherlands being the largest importer. The ten largest exporters to the EU were China, Ukraine, and the Dominican Republic, among others. The most popular organic products imported were tropical fruits, oilseeds, and spices, with bananas making up 85% of tropical fruit imports. There was also a notable increase in the import of organic sugar and soybeans.
